The Walls
While we cannot take credit for the idea (thank you Valhalla Project), we started our wall of “in memoriums” during our year in Williamsport and recognizing and celebrating the lives of those who chose to serve, but ultimately succumbed to their ‘inner demons’ through suicide. We continue to grow the original “Wall” at our new offices; an act that has very mixed emotions, given we believe in a world where suicide is ended for our communities. With even more walls to fill and the optimism that we will succeed in ending suicide, we are opening two more walls to recognize our heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service, and those still serving and deserve recognition for an act or acts of unparalleled bravery or valor. We urge you all to bring submissions for “The Walls” to our attention via the form at the end of this page. If you wish to give in memory or in honor of the brave men and women on “The Walls” today or with your submission, please reach out.
In Memorium
~“No one will ever understand the pain, inside or outside of your mind. Only you can realize the battles of the inner demons of your quiet existence. Never forget, no matter how alone you feel in this world, behind the masks of your smiles through the pain or the generosity of your dying heart, there is a hand reaching to lift you up. A shoulder to carry the load of your burdens, and to bring you hope. Even when the pain is so great and the walls of your mind are closing in, we have your six, we have your hand, we will fight the battles of those inner demons of your existence together” ~
In Tribute
~ We come from all walks of life, different spaces and places and experiences. You are not me, nor am I you, but there is an inner spirt - a higher place of existence that brings us to this calling. We stand beside one another offering all that makes us whole to the existence of others; we offer a blank check for millions who will never know us and we will forever live entombed in hallowed grounds - still side by side. Our names may never be known, our valor never seen, but in spirit we live on as those who not only gave some, but the ones who gave all in sacrifice.~
In Honor
~I saw them running towards me, one by one in masses, yet I did not turn around. I recognized among the bright skies and radiant sun or under the cloudiest and stormy nights that I must push forward. I feared the unknown, but the passions for others outweighed the options. Though I may never cross paths again with so many, I reached out and continued to pull them upwards. Some call this heroism, I call it my duty and my honor - to serve.~
“Courage isn’t born into nor does it die when our spirits leave our heavenly vessels. Courage is the drive to give beyond our body’s limitations because others need us in this very moment.”
If you know someone who suffered in silence and lost their battles with the inner demons of their mind, someone who gave it all and now lives on only in the minds of hearts who daily are reminded of their loss, or someone still walking among us who pushed forward while others were running away, please reach out and bring their service to our attention so that they may also grace the strong walls of our foundation and consider giving to support our mission in memorium, tribute, or honor of their choice to serve.
